ADHD and Mental Illness: What You See Vs What is Actually Happening.

Introduction One of the main reasons that I wanted to choose the topic of ADHD and Mental Health in children and college athletes is because I know how alone people who struggle with these illnesses can feel.  The minute that a child is experiencing any signs of ADHD or Mental Illness, instantly people think of medication or going to see a doctor.  Now, I'm not saying that this is a bad thing at all.  These are truly real illnesses that if not treated correctly, could cause a lot of problems for people in the future.  It is so much easier said than done to tell someone to go to a doctor to get help for something that they are having a hard time with.  From someone who deals with ADHD and overthinking, opening up to my family let alone my doctor was very hard.  Most people feel ashamed when reaching out for help, they feel very weak.  Dealing with ADHD and Mental Illness is not something that you can tackle on your own.  You need other trusted peop...

Everyone Struggles, Keep Going.

One of my favorite quotes that I have stood by for a while is "if you put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and life.  There are no limits.  There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there.  You must go beyond them." -Bruce Lee.  Whenever I am in a tough place mentally, I always revert back to this quote.  It really puts a lot of things into perspective for me.  Limits aren't a thing, they are just roadblocks.  You have to find ways to push past those roadblocks.

  ADHD Awareness Month & CHADD  October is ADHD Awareness month, usually that month is dedicated to ADHD and getting the word out about it.  I haven't seen many fundraising walks to ADHD in the past, but there is a lot of walks related to mental health awareness.  I was looking around for different events related to ADHD, and I stumbled across the website www.chadd.com.  CHADD stands for  Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, they are an organization that tries to help with awareness for people battling ADHD.  During the pandemic, everyone has been affected in different ways but people with ADHD have rally  struggled.  Virtual Help through the Pandemic CHADD, has had different virtual events to help people with ADHD figure out solutions to help with problems.  Different types of doctors are creating these zoom calls and presentations so people get the help they need virtually. ...

Introduction

 Hello, My name is Alexis Garrison.  I have created this blog for my social media class that I am taking this semester.  This blog is going to have information on ADHD mainly in children and college athletes and how it is linked to mental health issues.  This topic is really important to me, my whole life I have grown up with focusing issues and it has really been a struggle.  Now being a college athlete, I want to make people aware of these issues and how show badly people are affected by ADHD.  Being a college athlete is stressful on its own, but now with remote learning it is even more difficult.  My main goal with blog is I want people who are struggling with ADHD to know that they are not alone.  It may be difficult but rocky roads lead to beautiful destinations.  I hope to change just one person's life and make them feel wanted and loved.  It is not easy to deal with issues and sometimes people just need an outlet to go too.  ...
